This specially designed tour includes visit to some of the most beautiful, important and old monasteries. We will also take you to the village of Dha-Hanu located near Kargil. The in habitants of this region are Indo-Aryan and the descendants of Alexander the Great. There are about 2,000 residents in five villages above the bed of the Indus. The area is fertile with plenty of lovely fruit (apricots) and vegetables, including potatoes, tomatoes, etc.

We start our day with Shey, the name Shey comes from "shell" which means "looking glass" due to the reflection of the Shey Palace in a small lake situated below the Palace. Shey Palace was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning of the 17th century AD. The main attraction in the monastery is a three storied statue of Buddha Shakyamuni, made for copper, which was made by Deldan Namgyal in the memory of his father Singay Namgyal. We, then drive to Thiksay, this Thiksay monastery belongs to Gelugpa order. Paldan Sherab founded this Gonpa (Monastery) on a hill-top, situated north of Indus River. The monastery has long assembly hall with well crafter statues of Shakyamuni Buddha, the Maitreya (future) Buddha, Avalokiteshvara and Bodhisattvas. Our last visit for the day is the beautiful village of Hemis, Hemis is the largest monastery of Ladakh and belongs to the Drukpa order of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery was founded by the first incarnation of Stagsang Raspa Nawang Gyatso in 1630, who was invited to Ladakh by King Singey Namgyal.
We leave in the morning for Dh Hanu and drive west of Leh along the Indus river. We cross beautiful villages of Khaltse and Achinathang. On the way we visit Alchi monastery which is a rich hub of ancient Buddhist and Persian art and paintings. We then continue our drive till Dha-Hanu.
We spend the day exploring this village of the drokpas, their exquisite and unique culture.
After breakfast drive back to Leh via Lamayuru &Alchi. En route, we explore Lamayuru monastery and the village with a unique moon like landscape.
