CHANGTANG VALLEY TREK

ITINERARY
Day 01: Leh to Shang Sumdo drop (1-2hrs drive) Trek to Kongmaru La Base (6-7hrs trek)

Early in the morning we will drive to Shang Sumdo which is 55km away from the Leh. Today will be the first day of our trek and it will start from Shang Sumdo till Kongmaru La (5260m). We wil trek along a slope through the red rock until we reach Chuskurmo. From Chuskurmo, the trek leads through a gorges to the base of Kongmaru La pass. Overnight at Kongmaru La Base.

Day 02: Kongmaru La Base to Langtang Chu trek (7hrs trek)

Steep ascend to the Kongmaru La pass (5100m) from the camp. It offers beautiful view of the Northern face of Kangyatse (6400m). It descends down to the summer pasture of Nimaling. From here we pass the ridge behind the campsite and go down into a small valley then pass another ridge and go along the rock to the Konga Nyaulu until Langtang Chu. Overnight in Langtang Chu. Changthang Valley

Day 03: Langtang Chu to Sora Trek (6hrs trek)

Go up through the valley camp, cross the large stream and muriatic wall; carry on until the valley at the top of Zalung Karpo la (5197m). Overnight in Sora.

Day 04: Sora to Dattrek (6hrs trek)

A little beyond the last house of the village, we walk into a beautiful woody gorges crossing Sara River and go up to Dat River. These two rivers flow into Zanskar and the valley broadens as we continue. We will come across several Manis and Chorten on the way. Overnight in Dat.

Day 05: Dat to Lungmoche trek (5hrs trek)

We start our trek at Dat and go towards the valley of Rongo. We then follow the trek upscale till Yarla (4950m). Yarla pass offers us a fantastic views of Rupshu valley. Easy descend to summer village of Lungmoche. Overnight in Lungmoche.

Day 06: Lungmoche to Pangmur trek (5-6hrs trek)

Today the trek will be lengthy but easy and beautiful. We will see beautiful landscape with greenery everywhere and we have only a small pass to cross. Overnight in Pangmur.

Day 07: Pangmur to Pang (4500m) (5-6hrs trek)

Today we start the trek a little earlier. We will cross Pangmur la (4950m) and once it is crossed we reach the Manali high way. The highway has a small market and we freshen our selves at a restaurant there.

Day 08: Pang to Barma trek (4-5hrs trek)

Today we trek through Korzok, a beautiful pasture land where nomads graze their cattle we can spend some with the nomads and continue our trek till Barma. We have to cross a few rivers today. Today is the easiest trek of all the days. Night at Barma.

Day 09: Barma to Lanyar Base to Gyama trek (5-6hrs trek)

After the easy treks, this trek a challenging one. We have to cross several big passes today including the Lakunka la which is at the height of 5020m and is a little difficult. Overnight in Lanyar Base.

Day 10: Lanyar Base to Gyama trek (5-6hrs trek)

The trek stars with climbing up to Lanyar la (5850m). The view at the top of the pass is mesmerizing and displays a group of peaks. We then walk down towards the northeast and cross a steam to reach Gyama. Before reaching the camp we have to cross a small river. Overnight in Gyama.

Day 11: Gyama to KorzokPhu trek (2-3hrs trek)

The uncomplicated ascend to the YalangNyau la (5430m) along the stream is easy but takes very long to reach the pass. We can enjoy the amazing view of Tsomoriri Lake from the pass and again from the left side of hill. We have a steep descend with the zigzag route which is a little strenuous. We then reach reach KorzokPhu. Overnight in KorzokPhu.

Day 12: KorzokPhu to Leh (6 hrs by car)

Having had successfully completed the trek, today we will drive back to Leh. On the way we visit Thiksay monastery.
